Stephan Bax argues in his article
‘Our aim should be to attain a state
of `normalisation' in which the technology is invisible and truly integrated’
Normalization is the stage when a technology is invisible, hardly even
recognized as a technology, taken for granted in everyday life.
Bax suggested CALL would be normalize in our life when computer being
used daily by students and teacher of learning language as normal as pen and
books
he suggested attaining this level
it need some steps we have to follow:
We start with recognize
the principles factors which normalization requires.
And check the
practice of each teaching context in the light of these principles. Finally we
modify our current practice in each aspect to encourage normalization.
He summarized the probable progress of CALL towards normalization as 7
stages: “Early adopters, ignorance, try once, try again, fear,
normalizing, normalization”
CALL can be normalize in Saudi Arabia context when computer become available for all language learner and teacher daily in each level of education as normal.
Nowadays
many universities and school start using technology in education and give teacher a lot of courses to develop
their knowledge in using it.
To
achieve this in KSA: teachers have to be able to use these technologies and deal with any issues they
face. They must be training well to teach these technologies for students and
encourage them to use it daily without any fear. Students also have to deal
whit it in any part of their life to be more normal. We have not ignored
parents and their importance in achieving normalization of CALL.
